How Digital Gauge handles information when you browse the site or contact us.

Last updated:

Digital Gauge is designed to collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary to operate the site, respond to messages, maintain security, and provide technical content. This notice explains what information may be processed and why.

Information you provide

You may voluntarily provide information through the Contact form. The form asks for your name, email address, topic, subject, and message. This information is submitted only when you choose to contact Digital Gauge.

Digital Gauge does not require visitor accounts or registration. The general Contact form does not request phone numbers, postal addresses, company details, payment information, account passwords, or product-order information.

Information processed when you visit the site

Normal web requests require some technical information to deliver a page and keep the service working. The site’s hosting and security infrastructure may process an IP address, browser or device information, request time, requested URL, and basic network or security information. This information may be processed as part of normal website delivery, traffic routing, abuse detection, service protection, and troubleshooting.

Digital Gauge does not claim to store or have direct access to every field processed in infrastructure logs.

How information is used

Information submitted to Digital Gauge may be used to respond to questions, review corrections or source suggestions, assess technical feedback, investigate website problems, prevent spam or misuse, and maintain site security. An email address is used to reply to the message; submitting the form does not subscribe the visitor to a newsletter or unrelated marketing.

Digital Gauge does not sell personal information submitted through the Contact form to advertisers or data brokers. It does not currently use Contact-form information to build advertising profiles.

Contact form and email

The Contact form sends information to a server-side Cloudflare Pages Function rather than exposing the destination mailbox in the form. The handler validates the submitted fields and uses a Cloudflare Email Service binding to deliver the message to the configured recipient mailbox. In plain terms, the flow is: visitor, Contact form, server-side handler, email delivery, and recipient mailbox.

The current handler does not write submissions to a database, Cloudflare KV, or D1. The message and subsequent correspondence may remain in the recipient mailbox as part of normal communication until they are no longer reasonably needed. Provider backup or retention systems may retain copies according to their own practices.

Please do not submit passwords, payment-card information, confidential credentials, or other sensitive information through the general Contact form. It is intended for questions, corrections, source suggestions, and website feedback, not secure document transfer.

Cookies and security services

Digital Gauge does not intentionally use cookies for advertising or behavioral profiling. The current site code does not deliberately set non-essential cookies. Hosting or security services may use cookies or similar browser storage when required for security, bot protection, challenge verification, or related technical functions; this does not mean every visitor necessarily receives such a cookie.

Cloudflare Turnstile is not currently enabled on the Contact form. If the form’s security technology changes, this policy will be updated to describe the active service.

Analytics and advertising

Digital Gauge currently does not use a dedicated visitor analytics service. No analytics or marketing-tracking script was identified in the current site implementation.

Digital Gauge currently does not run third-party display advertising or advertising-tracking scripts. If analytics, advertising, or other monetization technology is introduced later, this policy will be updated to explain the relevant processing.

Data retention

Contact messages and related correspondence are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, follow up on a correction or source suggestion, maintain an appropriate correspondence record, or resolve abuse and security issues. No fixed retention period is promised because the appropriate period depends on the message and purpose.

Information may also remain in normal provider or mailbox backup systems under those systems’ retention practices. Digital Gauge does not claim direct control over every infrastructure or mailbox backup copy.

Cloudflare supports site delivery, security, server-side Contact handling, and email delivery. Service providers may process limited information when necessary to perform those functions. Digital Gauge does not state that visitor information is never processed by a provider, because such processing may be required to operate the site.

Articles may link to manufacturer documentation, standards organizations, metrology institutes, technical references, and other external websites. When you follow an external link, the destination site’s privacy practices apply. Digital Gauge does not control those practices, and an ordinary outbound link does not send that site the contents of a Contact-form message.

Digital Gauge is a general technical information site and is not designed as a service for young children.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can choose not to submit the Contact form. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may provide rights relating to personal information, such as requesting access, correction, or deletion.

Privacy-related questions or requests can be submitted through the Contact page. Digital Gauge does not publish or invent a separate privacy address for this purpose.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when site functionality changes, new services are introduced, Contact handling changes, analytics or advertising practices change, or legal or operational requirements develop. The visible last-updated date reflects a meaningful policy revision rather than an automatic site build or trivial formatting edit.
